The basis of RESTORATION IS REVERSIBILITY
This tells us that it must be possible to reach the starting point; any intervention or material that is worked on, added or introduced to the wood, must be able to be disassembled, removed or cleaned.
Restoration is not a new profession, cultural heritage (real estate and furniture) and private objects have been restored, repaired or fixed for a long time. But it wasn't until the s. XIX that science and art met and it began to give historical and cultural value, and to study harmful effects and intervention techniques, especially on pictorial works.
The History of Restoration is linked to the History of Furniture and this to the History of human beings.
